What this solves
Three things matter when picking a Bali fast boat: the actual operator (not the booking site that resells them), the route (Benoa → Gili Trawangan is not the same product as Sanur → Nusa Penida), and your priority (cheapest, fastest, calmest, or with the fewest mechanical breakdowns). Most travel guides don't break these down. This tool does.
Who it's for. Bali → Gili T / Gili Air hoppers, Lembongan day-trippers, Penida multi-stoppers, Lombok link-ups (Bangsal / Lembar), anyone comparing quotes that look "about the same".

How to read the result
- Pick is the operator that best matches your priority for this exact route. Don't take the "fastest" if your priority is cheapest — the table lists all four for your reference.
- Duration is the published crossing time, not door-to-door. Add 1.5–3h for transfers on each end.
- Rp per person is the public 2026 price band. Group bookings (4+ pax) sometimes unlock a small discount via WhatsApp, not the booking sites.
- Note flags the realistic catch — choppy crossings, slow dock transfer, vehicle-only ferries, etc.
Limitations
- Schedules change with weather. The "fastest" route in dry season is a slog in January–February.
- Operators change boats seasonally — the 2025 schedule may not match 2026. Always re-check on the operator's own WhatsApp or site before paying.
- Booking sites (Klook, 12Go, GetTransfer) resell multiple operators under one listing. The "operator" you book through them is sometimes whoever paid the highest commission that month.
- Safety is hard to score publicly. This tool uses publicly known boat age, life-vest policy, and incident history; a quiet operator is not automatically safe.
FAQ
Is the Gili T fast boat safe in choppy weather?
In wet-season chop (Dec–Feb), Benoa → Gili crossings regularly run 3–4m swell and operators cancel 2–4 days a month. Eka Jaya and Semaya One cancel more reliably than budget boats that still run. If you get seasick, pick the larger boat, take a non-drowsy antiemetic, and sit mid-ship near an open window.
Is the slow ferry to Lombok cheaper than a fast boat?
Yes, by 50–60%, but it's 4–5 hours vs. 2 hours, and Padangbai → Lembar schedules are twice daily. Useful if you're bringing a vehicle or carrying a lot of luggage and not in a rush. Public ferries don't take online bookings; turn up an hour early with cash.
Can I do Nusa Penida as a day trip from Sanur?
Yes, with caveats. Sanur → Penida is 30–45 min; first boat leaves 07:00, last return is ~17:00. You get 7–8 hours on the island, which is tight for west-side highlights (Kelingking, Angel's Billabong). Run the day-trip-math tool for your specific origin.
Are booking-site prices the same as operator prices?
Usually 10–20% higher. Booking sites charge a service fee on top of the operator's price. Direct WhatsApp / DM bookings to the operator are often Rp 30–80k cheaper per ticket, especially for groups of 4+. Always ask the operator first.
