Yoga Style Selector

Ubud has six shalas that matter for most travellers. They are not interchangeable — Radiantly Alive is teacher training, Power of Now runs sound-bowl journeys, Pyramids of Chi is a sound-healing pyramid venue, Yoga Barn is the drop-in megashala. This tool matches your experience, style interest, class size preference, goal, and budget to the right shala.

What this solves

"Yoga in Ubud" search results push one shala — almost always Yoga Barn — because it has the largest affiliate programme. The reality is that the six major Ubud venues split roughly: Radiantly Alive (teacher training + strong Ashtanga / Vinyasa, ~Rp 130–180k drop-in), Yoga Barn (drop-in megashala, 75+ classes / week, ~Rp 130–200k), Intuitive Flow (small intimate, slow flow + Yin, ~Rp 150k), Ubud Yoga Centre (Iyengar-style alignment, ~Rp 100–150k), Power of Now (silent retreats, sound healing, ~Rp 200–400k workshops), and Pyramids of Chi (sound-bowl sessions, ~Rp 250–400k).

Who it's for. First-timers worried about walking into a 50-person power class, regular yogis wanting to keep a daily practice while in Bali, sound-healing curious, anyone pricing a 7-day vs 30-day Bali stay and trying to budget classes.

FAQ

Is Yoga Barn really Rp 130k per class?

Yes for most classes. Specialty workshops (acroyoga, sound bath, master-classes) can run Rp 250–500k. The "Rp 130k" headline figure is the standard drop-in. If you're here for 7+ days, the weekly unlimited pass is around Rp 700–900k — better than four single classes. The schedule is on their site.

What's the difference between Radiantly Alive and Yoga Barn?

Yoga Barn is a drop-in megashala — eight rooms, 75+ classes per week, the busiest schedule in Bali. Radiantly Alive is smaller and more focused on teacher training and strong Vinyasa / Ashtanga lineage. If you want a quiet 6 a.m. Mysore-style Ashtanga self-practice with a room of 5 regulars, that's Radiantly Alive. If you want to pick from 12 classes a day across every style, that's Yoga Barn.

Do I need to bring my own mat?

All six shalas provide mats and props for drop-in classes. Some travellers bring their own for hygiene / grip. Most studios use Manduka PRO or equivalent — grippier than budget mats. Skip buying one unless you'll be here more than a week or already have a favourite.

What about Pyramids of Chi — is it a yoga shala?

Not really — it's a sound-healing pyramid venue running Tibetan-singing-bowl sessions and breathwork. Sessions are 60–90 minutes, scheduled afternoon-to-evening, and priced Rp 250–400k. It's a great complement to a yoga practice, not a substitute for it. If your goal is "spiritual / energy work", Pyramids of Chi is one valid pick — alongside Kundalini at Radiantly Alive.
